The Biodiversity and Climate Change Virtual Laboratory brings together real-world data from trusted providers with peer-reviewed scientific analysis tools to facilitate the investigation of climate impacts on the world's biodiversity. The lab hosts a wealth of data for you to use in your models that has been collected, aggregated and shared by others. Please be aware that correct attribution is important to ensure that data providers get the credits they deserve and can maintain their work.

Data providers

Please use the following guidelines to attribute the data providers of the input data that you used in your model:

Atlas of Living Australia (ALA)

To cite species occurrence data imported from the ALA into BCCVL, please use the form:

‘Atlas of Living Australia occurrence records imported from http://www.ala.org.au on DD/MM/YYYY.’

Please also cite the list of original data resources/datasets, which can be found in the download dataset ZIP file, in ‘citation.csv’. Additional information can be found on the website of ALA: https://www.ala.org.au/how-to-cite-ala/

Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF)

To cite species occurrence data imported from GBIF into BCCVL, please use the form:

‘Global Biodiversity Information Facility occurrence records imported from http://www.gbif.org on DD/MM/YYYY.’

Please also cite the list of original data resources/datasets, which can be found in the download dataset ZIP file, in ‘gbif_citation.txt’. Additinal information can be found on the website of GBIF: https://www.gbif.org/citation-guidelines

Advanced Ecological Knowledge and Observation System (AEKOS)

To cite species occurrence or trait data imported from AEKOS into BCCVL, please use the form:

‘AEKOS occurrence records imported from http://www.aekos.org.au on DD/MM/YYYY.’

‘AEKOS trait records imported from http://www.aekos.org.au on DD/MM/YYYY.’

Please also cite the list of original data resources/datasets, which can be found in the download dataset ZIP file, in ‘aekos_citation.csv’.

ZoaTrack

If you have used species trait data from ZoaTrack for analysis in the BCCVL then please cite the following paper:

Climate and Environmental datasets

Citation information for datasets provided in the BCCVL can be found under the "Info" button for each dataset on the Search Datasets page. This information is also linked to in the "Details" tab of your experiment results.
